Energy Secretary Ed Miliband has approved the plans for projects at Mallard Pass, Rutland and Lincolnshire, Sunnica in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, and Gate Burton in Lincolnshire.

A solar farm and battery project capable of powering 115,000 homes annually by delivering up to 500 megawatts (MW) of electricity is being proposed by an energy developer. Island Green Power said the project, known as East Pye Solar, is planned for land in Long Stratton, Norfolk, and will be able to provide energy over the next 60 years.
According to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), the projects could create a total power of 1.4GW - enough to power 406,994 homes. In total, the farms will cover 2,837 hectares. Mr Miliband said: "Solar power is crucial to achieving net zero, providing an abundant source of cleaner, cheaper energy on the mission towards 2030.
