China''s Concentrated Solar Power at Hami Expected to be 250 MW by 2025. New energy installed capacity, accounting for 70.2% of total installed capacity, will comprise 34 GW, with wind power comprising 27 GW, photovoltaic 6.5
Currently, Xinjiang has over 70 million kW worth of new energy projects under construction and is accelerating the development of 10-million-kW-level new energy bases. Xinjiang also has 13 solar thermal projects under construction, contributing to the national total of 33 projects.
While the investment required for solar thermal power plants remain high, China is working to reduce costs and promote commercialization. According to the China Solar Thermal Alliance, the cost of electricity from tower solar thermal plants is expected to drop to 0.61 yuan per kilowatt-hour (kWh) by 2025 and to about 0.53 yuan per kWh by 2027.
The contribution of large-scale PV deployment to China's net-zero electricity system by 2050. As China has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2060, electrifying its energy sector is no doubt one of the priority measures to support the transition towards a more sustainable and decarbonized energy system.
By contrast, the induced average changes in South China do not exceed -1.62% under RCP4.5 and -2.80% under RCP8.5. Projected solar radiation will have a positive contribution to the PV power generation in the south but a negative contribution in the west.
4. Discussion This work reports that the total capacity potential for large-scale PV in China is 108.22 TW with 150.73 PWh annual solar PV generation (implying an average capacity factor of 15.9), which can bring 150.28 billion tones of CO 2 emission mitigation caused by coal-fired power generation.
Invested, built and operated by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China Group), the project integrates the functions of power generation and storage. It is expected to be a key green energy supplier to replace fossil fuel power plants and play a role in guaranteeing a clean, stable and adjustable highly-efficient power system.
